staging-boisedevcom.kinsta.cloud is fully owned by Elevate 208 Media, LLC, an Idaho company.  Elevate 208 Media is controlled and owned by Don Day and Kara Jackson of Boise, who serve as managing partners of the business.  Elevate 208 Media’s revenue is completely derived from the publication of BoiseDev.  Neither BoiseDev nor Elevate 208 Media have any sources of outside investment. The site’s revenue model depends on memberships and advertising.

Mission

BoiseDev is a community-focused journalism outlet, bringing business and civics news coverage to the Greater Boise area.  The site aims to be lively, informative, fact-based and non-partisan.

Artificial intelligence policy

It is Elevate 208 Media’s policy that all news copy is written by human reporters.

We will not run stories that are written by artificial intelligence — in whole or in part. We may use AI tools to assist in the news gathering process, including to help analyze material, create illustrative graphics (with proper labeling), dig for items in databases, transcribe phone calls or public hearings and the like. When the use of AI or large language models is key to a reporting process, we will indicate this for the reader in our story.

We also may use AI tools in the editing process (i.e. using tools like Grammarly to aid human editors in spotting and correcting errors). Because machine learning and artificial intelligence are a fast-moving fields, we may refine this policy as time goes on, but we will do so in a transparent manner with our readers and employees.

These policies do not apply to advertising materials that appear on our site.

The site employs diverse sources for information and seeks out a variety of voices that are representative of the community in which it serves.

Corrections

Please send correction information directly to don@boisedev.com.  Accurate, reliable information is of the utmost importance.  Incorrect information will be changed within the story itself and highlighted with a correction note at the bottom – except for minor and/or typographical errors.

Our standards

BoiseDev adheres to the Society for Professional Journalists’ Code of Ethics.

Citations, references and work type

Where appropriate, BoiseDev will cite the source of its information.  When BoiseDev picks up a story from another, competitive news outlet – it will cite that outlet’s work.  The site also aims not to do ‘duplicative’ reporting, wherein it repeats the reporting done by another outlet.  The site primarily runs straight news reporting.

Methods

This site relies heavily upon public records and other information in the public domain.  News story sourcing comes from a broad array of methods – including community feedback, tips, source interviews, records and observation.

Locally sourced

BoiseDev maintains an office location in Downtown Boise, Idaho – the center of the area it primarily serves. The site also reports upon the rest of Ada County, Canyon County, and – where appropriate – other areas of Idaho.
